The city of Shiraz is the center of Fars province. It locates in center of South bound of Iran, 888 Km away from the South of Tehran. It coordinates E52, 30 & N29, 37 and about 1550 meters above the sea. It also locates along the classic route of tourism in Iran and it forms the golden tourism triangle of Iran including Isfahan and Yazd.

The name of Shiraz is mentioned in the Acaemenids epigraphs in Persepolis. The archeological relics and dishes in the metropolitan museum in New York is the evidence of greatness of Shiraz during Solukids, Parthians and Sasanids Dynasties. When the Arabs attacked several times to the city named Estakhr and the people resisted, the city was destroyed, and then the city of Shiraz became the center of the Arab’s government.

The city of Shiraz used to be the capital of Iran in Karimkhan era (The king of Zands) and it was civilized. Shiraz has developed in the recent decades and is one of the most beautiful and important cities in Iran.

Shiraz has a warm climate. Qareh-Bagh River is goes by the city and the city is surrounded by mountains. The flora and fauna of Shiraz are such as the goats, antelopes, ram, ewe and partridges. The Almond, Baneh and Oak trees, plus the medical and industrial herbs are also around the city.

Weaving carpets, weaving cloth, straw, pottery, silver work, copper work and inlay are the main handicrafts of Shiraz.

The main tourist attractions of Shiraz are Hafezieh (Hafez tomb), Sadieh (Sadi tomb), Atiq mosque, Shah-Cheraq shrine, the new mosque, Eram Garden, Karimkhan citadel, Vakil bazaar, Quran gate, Khajouy-e-Kermani tomb, Babakouhi tomb, Vakil complex, Vakil bath (the anthropology museum), Vakil mosque, Nasir-Al-Molk mosque (the pink mosque), Zinat-Al-Molk house, Delgosha garden, Afif-Abad garden museum (Golshan garden), Divan-Khaneh mansion, Nazar garden, Narenjestan-e-Qavam garden, Jahan-Nama garden, Pars museum, the technology and the natural history museum.

The main tourist attractions of Fars province are as follows: Persepolis, Pasargad, the Sasanid’s route of Firouz-Abad and Eram garden have been registered as the world heritage in UNESCO. The Sasanid’s route of Firouz-Abad consists of Shahpour cave, Chogan valley, Bishapour archeological city, Firouz-Abad fire-temple (Ardeshir-Babakan palace), archeological Gour city, Dokhtar (The Girl) castle and Sarvestan palace. Naqsh-e-Rostam, Naqsh-e-Rajab, Estakhr archeological city, Daraab-Gerd archeological city, Izadkhast castle, Kariyan fire-temple, Daraab stone mosque, Berem plain, Hiqer canyon, Raqez valley, Maharlou lake, Parishan lake, Tasht and Bakhtegan lakes, Arzhan lagoon, Margoun waterfall, Borq valley and Bemo national park.

Qashqaee nomadic tribes mainly live in Fars province. Khamseh, Mamasani and Kohkilouyeh tribes travel across the Fars province too.
