The historic city of Qazvin is located 150 Km away in the west of Tehran. It is center of Qazvin province.

Qazvin has been an important city in different historical eras. It used to be the capital city of Iran at the beginning of Safavids dynasty and Shah-Tahmasb’s era. The most important historic monuments have remained from safavids era. The founding of Qazvin is back to Shahpour the first in Sasanids dynasty.

Bab-ol-Janneh (The gate of the heaven), Caspian and Minoudar were other names for Qazvin. Zaqeh, Qabrestan and Qareh-Tappeh, archeological hills in Boeenzahra, are the evidence back to about 7000 B.C. civilization in this area. Archeologists believe that Qazvin is the heart of archeology in Iran. Maads have regulated this area in 900 B.C.

Alamout castle, Ovan lake, Tabiat park, Kharaqan towers, Meymoun castle, Barajin tower, Soltan-Veis’s tomb, Pichbon caravansary, Barajin park, Yale-gonbad hot-spring, Biaq stone balcony, Lambsar castle, Sefid-Aab cave, Sialan castle, Shah-Alborz summit, Arshia hot spring, Qale-kord cave, Shah-Abbasi bridge, Abbas-Abad cave, Qale-Kord cave, Dokhtar castle, Zaqeh Qabrestan, Qareh-Tappeh, Kholeh-Kouh and Nargeh archeological hills are the atractions of Qazvin province.

The main gardening products of Qazvin are: Pistachio, almond, grapes, hazelnut, apple, cherry, nectarine, walnut, olive, pomegranate, pear, cranberry, etc. Hazelnut, pistachio, pomegranate, olive, cranberry and grapes festivals are the main feasts and cultural events for gardening products in Qazvin province.

Qeymeh-Nesaar, Shirin-Polo, Fesenjan, Plum stew, Artichoke stew, Rhubarb stew, Siahcheshm-Polo, Qazvini dumpling, Lassi Aash, Dimaaj, Kal-Joush, Dam-Kebab, Arshteh (Plum Aash) are the cuisines of Qazvin. Baqlava, Berenji cookies, Nokhodi cookies, Qandi cookies, Almond cookies (Qorabieh), Walnut cookies, Qazvin crackers, Gaaq bread, Nan-charaki, Nane-Chaee, Atabaki, Valiahdi, Aj-Karimi, are the famous home-made cookies of Qazvin.

Qazvin has the variety of handicrafts such as: Carpet, drugget, felt, Jajim, Mouj weaving, painting, calligraphy, wrapper, webbing, wood fretworks, straw, mosaic works, making traditional musical instruments, wood carving, pottery, scrimshaw, coppersmith, mirror work, glass lathing, etc. Samanu, Qazvin foot stone, raisin and dairy products such as Khiki Cheese (Local cheese) are the famous souvenirs of Qazvin.
