Dezful is a perfect sample of Iran. It has many things to say about the ups and downs in the history of Iran, from prehistoric to archeological era, the religions, after Islam, contemporary history and some of the travelogs such as Hamdollah-e-Mostofi, Haj Najm-ol-Molk, Sir Henry Rawlinson and kin-ner.

The archeological hills such as Choqabanut and Choqamish in the west of the Shoushan plain are remained from prehistoric era, Neolithic era and over 10000 years ago, still have some secrets, that the part of bricks and broken ceramics all around are the evidence. Excavation of the first epigraph in Choqamish proves that the writing has started there. The epigraph of the first music instruments in the world. A mud-stamp with the image of a big boat as the oldest document of the history of maritime in Iran, some 6000-year old excavations in the Archeological museum of Iran all together proves the oldness and authenticity of Dezful.

The tomb of Prophet Hezqil, father of the Prophet Daniel from the Jewish prophets is in Dezful from the 6th century B.C.

The magnification of Dezful has been during Sasanid dynasty. Shahpour the first, who is the son of Ardeshir-Papakan, the founder of Sasanid Empire, built the city of Gondishapour by Roman prisoners which became the capital of Khouzestan government, a developed city with hospital and the first university of the world. Various industries such as silk clothes which are excavated from the graves, Sasanid Bridge, the symbol of Dezful as the oldest bridge in the world that is still being used after 18 centuries, the remained water mills, constructions and canals in Gondishapour are the evidence of the greatness and grandeur of Dezful in archeological era.

Yaqoub-Leyc of Saffarids is another evidence of Dezful history. A brave warrior from a city in the far city in Iran to the far South-West province of Iran, who broke the silence of Persian after two centuries, was bravely fighting to throw all Abbasids out from Iran and founded Saffarid dynasty and when he had no more breath, rested in peace in Dezful for ever.

Dezshah Castle remained from Nader-Shah of Afsharids, The latest Iranian conqueror king, in South-West of Iran.

During the Holy-Defense against Iraq attacks, Dezful was the front guard of Iran. It was attacked by missiles and rockets for 8 years, but is resisted and became the symbol of resistance and stability. May, 25 is known as the day of Dezful in the Iranian National Calendar as the symbol of resistance and stability.

However, Dezful is a green city located on the bank of Dez River in Khouzestan Plain and it includes several of God blessings. But nowadays like other parts of Iran, recessions as the cause of sanctions against Iran have become destructive like the dust particles.
